Welcome to the Walking section.

 walk in the park 8.7.07

For people wanting gentle walking activities to improve their health, maybe acting on advice from their doctor or wanting to meet other people to walk with there are many gentle Health Walks from various venues across the borough such as the Lets go For a walk Scheme and the Lees Health Walks. These walks are designed to help people to reach the government recommended levels of physical activity that is 5 times 30mins on 5 or more days of the week.

For more information about Health Walks including the many benefits and how to get involved as a volunteer visit The Natural England website.

Want to take your walking a little further and explore the more remote areas of Oldham and Saddleworth?  Why not try one of the many walking groups in the area such as The Oldham Ramblers, The Long Distance Walking association, Oldham Mountaineering club and more!

Want to try something different? why not try Nordic Walking with Oldham Community Leisure. This is one of the fastest growing sports in Europe and gives you a full body work out burning 20% more calories when using the correct technique!

Use the links in the Walking Menu above to find out more about all the different walking activities available in and around Oldham.
